At Renewal Church, all ministry begins and ends in Jesus Christ.
Ministry is the work we do in love to respond to His call, live in His grace, and join in His reconciling love for the world. Ministry is personal, present, rooted, relational, and loving—a way of life lived in the presence of the Living God, as we are formed into whole persons and the whole people of God. We participate in the ongoing ministry of Christ among us, in our neighbourhoods, and throughout our city.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation" (2 Corinthians 5:17-18)
At Renewal Church, we express this way of ministry through five interwoven areas: pastoral, making and arts, life together, city care and missions, and stewardship. Each one reflects how Christ’s reconciling work takes shape in our time and place. They form a single life of service and worship—a life lived open to God and others.
Living open means walking with others in their journey of faith, listening deeply, and tending to the soul. It is a ministry of presence and patience, modeled after the Shepherd who calls each by name, restores the weary, and leads with both truth and compassion. To live open here is to be tender and attentive—to both God’s leading and the real needs of people.
Living open means responding in wonder and worship, expressing the beauty and truth of God through creativity. This ministry reflects the God who spoke the world into being and delighted in its goodness. Christ, who sang hymns with His disciples and offered praise with His life, shows us how to open ourselves fully to God in adoration. Living open here means bringing your whole self—heart, mind, body, and spirit—into the act of worship and creative response.
Living open means sharing life vulnerably and faithfully with one another. Jesus shared meals, embraced the outcast, and called His disciples friends. This ministry reflects that shared table and shared life—through hospitality, communication, small groups, and rhythms of mutual encouragement. Living open here is about making space to be known and to know others in love, resisting isolation and building real fellowship.
Living open means being attentive to the needs of the world and willing to be sent. Jesus stepped into human history to serve, heal, and reconcile. This ministry expresses that same incarnational love—praying for the world, showing mercy, seeking justice, and joining God’s renewal of all things. Living open here is to be interruptible, responsive, and generous—offering your life for the sake of your neighbour.
Living open means recognizing everything as gift and offering it back in love. Jesus entrusted His disciples with responsibility and taught them to steward the Kingdom wisely and generously. This ministry embodies a quiet faithfulness—coordinating, sustaining, and supporting the life of the church. Living open here is about serving without spotlight, managing resources with grace, and enabling others to thrive.
Together, these five areas reflect our common calling: to follow the way of Jesus by living open to God and others, one Church, many gifts, joined in the ministry of Christ for the good of the Church, the city, and the world.
Our Ministry Collectives are spaces where, ministry teams come together to tend the spiritual rhythms of the church. They are not additional committees, but shared planning and prayer rhythms that align ministry areas with the life and direction of the whole church.
Each collective supports new and existing ministry teams by grounding them in prayer, discernment, and collaboration across areas. These rhythms help us listen together, plan seasonally, and walk in unity as a church.
